Hillbilly Tomatoes are very large (most average at least one pound) very juicy bi coloured (yellow & pink) tomatoes. They have a good taste, not as strong and acidic as red tomatoes. These are a good choice for folks who cannot tolerate strong tomatoes. The large size also makes for a nice slicer, and the colors are really pretty served on a plate for supper. These are heirloom tomatoes, from most accounts they originated in the mountains of West Virginia, thus the name “Hillbilly”.
These are open pollinated, Hillbilly tomatoes are also indeterminate, meaning that they do not ripen all at once, but rather over a period of several weeks.
